PTFE based materials
VIRGIN, ETCHED, 25% GLASS FILLED, CARBON FILLED, EXPANDED
Major advances in sealing technology have given the gasket industry a huge variety of new PTFE based products manufactured by all the leading sheet material companies. As we are an independant gasket supply company, we have the advantage of stocking all the leading brand names for most applications and specifications. This proves very benificial to buyers who must adhere to "spec'd in" materials especially if they are from a multitude of source manufacturers.
Based on PTFE, Sigma offers outstanding chemical resistance while the unique manufacturing process results in a biaxially fibrillated structure ensuring high levels of seal integrity in the most demanding applications.
Sigma materials are inherently clean, making them suitable for use in industries where product contamination may be of concern such as food, pharmaceuticals and electronics. All the components of the Sigma range comply with the requirements of FDA regulations and the materials' outstanding chemical resistance make them particularly suitable for sealing virtually every chemical medium across the whole pH range (0-14).
All products in the range are capable of sealing from cryogenic temperatures up to 260°C. For intermittent use even higher temperatures can be tolerated. Pressures from 8.5 MPa down to vacuum can be accommodated, furthermore applications involving low gasket stress will not result in loss of sealing performance. Typically these relate to the use of glass lined, plastic and ceramic flanges or operational conditions where flanges have become damaged or distorted.

500 Sigma 500 is a high performance biaxially orientated sheet sealing material containing PTFE and hollow glass micropheres. It is specifically designed for use in flanges where only low bolt loading is available. Such flanges can be glass lined, ceramic, plastic or be so distorted that they include areas of low gasket stress. Suitable for sealing all chemicals across the whole pH range (0-14) with the exception of molten alkali metals, fluorine gas, hydrogen fluoride or materials which may generate these. Colour................................................Blue Max. Recommended temperature.....260°C Max. Recommended pressure............85 bar Complies with the requirements of FDA regulations. |

522 Sigma 522 is a sheet sealing material, containing PTFE, with highly conformable surface layers and a strong reinforcing core containing barium sulphate filler. It is specifically designed for use in flanges where only low bolt loading is available. Such flanges can be glass lined, ceramic, plastic or be so distorted that they include areas of low gasket stress. The rigid reinforcing core facilitates handling and installation of large gaskets. It is suitable for sealing all chemicals across the whole pH range with the exception of molten alkali metals, fluorine gas, anhydrous HF, and sulphuric acid at concentrations >75% and at temperatures above 65°C. Colour................................................White Max. Recommended temperature.....260°C Max. Recommended pressure............85 bar Complies with the requirements of FDA regulations. |

Gylon gasketing, truly a superior and unique material. The exclusive properties of Gylon gasketing are combined to deliver its superior performance to comply with today's clean air requirements through sealability and torque retention. Asbestos-free Gylon gasketing routinely out-performs all conventional PTFE products by drastically minimising gasket creep and cold flow problems.
The overall benefits of Gylon gasketing over that of both conventional PTFE/filler blends are found in the areas of enviromental improvement and overall cost savings.
Cost reductions, a critical important factor, are found in many areas, including:
Sealability:
Seals better than conventional PTFE gasketing.
Creep, relaxation and cold flow:
Greatly reduces creep relaxation and cold flow problems that are inherent to conventional PTFE gasketing. Seals better than conventional PTFE gasketing. And has a higher retention of bolt torque loads than both conventional PTFE gasketing and competative expanded PTFE or PTFE/filler blends.
GYLON 3500 |
Gylon
3500 This general purpose GYLON gasketing material has a significant advantage over conventional PTFE in regard to its functionability at high temperature/pressure combinations. Often used in chemical processing and hydrocarbon processing industries. Fluid Service: Strong acids (exception: hydrofluoric), solvents, hydrocarbons, water, steam, chlorine. Colour.................................................Fawn Temperature.......................................-210°C to +260°C Max. Recommended pressure............83 bar P x T, max..........................................12,000 bar for 1/32" & 1/16" Thick, 8,600 bar for 1/8" Thick. Complies with the requirements of FDA regulations. |
GYLON 3504 |
Gylon
3504 Blue GYLON gasketing is very compressible due to its inorganic microspheres, thus sealing tighter under lower torque loads. This gasketing material is ideal for use wherever lower bolt loads are required to effect an efficient seal. Can replace PTFE envelope gaskets in many instances. Fluid Service:. Moderate concentrations of acids & caustics, hydrocarbons, solvents, water, refrigerants, cryogenics, hydrogen peroxide. Colour.................................................Blue Temperature.......................................-210°C to +260°C Max. Recommended pressure............55 bar P x T, max..........................................12,000 bar for 1/32" & 1/16" Thick, 8,600 bar for 1/8" Thick.
