PFA Tubing (perfluoroalkoxy alkanes) is crafted from a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and perfluoroethers. It offers a wide temperature range, exceptional chemical inertness (excluding fluorine and certain alkali metals), and surpasses other fluoropolymers in flexibility and optical clarity. This tubing is inherently pure, characterised by low off-gassing, and meets FDA and USP standards for food contact and biocompatibility. It is widely chosen for demanding environments such as laboratories where elevated temperatures or aggressive substances are present.
Compared to PTFE tubing, PFA provides improved short-term flexibility, tensile strength, and transparency, while maintaining similar dielectric properties and chemical and thermal resistance. However, PFA has a shorter flex life under repeated bending than PTFE.
Applications
PFA tubing is ideal for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors requiring a clear, non-toxic conduit or for handling highly corrosive chemicals and solvents. Its dielectric qualities also make it suitable for electrical cable insulation and compressed air systems.
