Nitrile rubber cord (NBR) is a synthetic copolymer composed of acrylonitrile and butadiene, known for its strong resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons, mild acids, hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils, and petroleum products. This elastomer operates effectively across a wide temperature range, offering moderate tensile strength and solid abrasion resistance. However, it is not suitable for prolonged exposure to oxidation, weathering, or ultraviolet light, making it less ideal for outdoor applications.
Nitrile cord is widely utilised in sealing tasks within the automotive and aerospace industries due to its chemical resistance. It can be securely bonded to create reliable O-rings. Henry Gallacher stocks a variety of standard sizes; for custom diameters or quantities, please use the enquiry option at the top of the page, referencing the product code.
Additionally, O-rings made from nitrile rubber are available in a broad selection of standard sizes.
