PSU (Polysulfone) rod, also known as polyaryl sulfones, is a clear, food-safe thermoplastic renowned for its excellent dimensional stability and robust mechanical strength. It features outstanding dielectric performance, strong chemical resistance, and carries a UL94 V-0 flammability rating, ensuring it self-extinguishes once the flame source is removed. Additionally, polysulfone rod withstands radiation well and is suitable for repeated steam sterilisation thanks to its hydrolysis resistance. However, PSU is not UV stabilised and is vulnerable to weathering, so it is unsuitable for outdoor use.
PSU rod is ideal for components operating at elevated temperatures and those that require microwave permeability. At Henry Gallacher, we frequently machine polysulfone rod into precision parts for humidifiers, steam cleaning equipment, and microwave ovens.
