Vespel® rod is a premium-grade material known for its outstanding wear resistance, impact toughness, and creep strength. While it boasts excellent mechanical properties, it has limited chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, and steam.

Typical Uses

Vespel® Grade Typical Uses Material Composition
SP-1 Components for mechanical and electrical applications at high temperatures, including valve seats, seals, and insulators. Unfilled; delivers maximum strength and elongation, lowest modulus and thermal conductivity, plus excellent electrical characteristics.
SP-21 Low friction and wear applications, both lubricated and non-lubricated, such as valve seats, seals, bearings, washers, and seal rings. Filled with 15% graphite to enhance wear resistance and improve long-term thermal stability.
SP-211 Applications requiring low friction and wear in moderate temperature and PV conditions, including bearings like bushings and washers. Contains 10% PTFE and 15% graphite, offering the lowest static friction.
SP-3 Ideal for friction and wear in vacuum or inert gas environments, such as bearings, piston rings, and seals. 15% MoS2 filled, providing superior wear performance in dry conditions.
