Mica M & P

Mica M & P

Mica (also referred to as Muscotherm or Musco) is a durable insulation material designed for high-temperature environments. This laminated sheet is produced by bonding mica minerals with a silicon resin, resulting in a product with outstanding physical properties. It is ideal for applications requiring low thermal and electrical conductivity, combined with high mechanical strength and flame resistance.

Two grades of mica are offered: M (muscovite) and P (phlogopite). Both grades are available through Henry Gallacher's supply network.

Typical Uses

Ideal for electromechanical and thermomechanical parts that require high heat tolerance and minimal electrical conductivity.

Main Characteristics

  • Temperature range: Mica M (muscovite) withstands up to +500°C continuously and +800°C intermittently.
  • Temperature range: Mica P (phlogopite) tolerates up to +700°C continuously and +1000°C intermittently.
  • Flame-retardant and non-flammable material.
  • Emits no fumes and has very low heat conduction.
  • High dielectric strength with low electrical conductivity.
  • Strong compressive resistance and a high modulus of elasticity.
  • Resistant to water and a wide range of chemicals, including acids, alkalis, mineral oils, and solvents.
