Virgin PTFE Sheet

PTFE Sheet

Virgin PTFE sheet (commonly mistaken for Teflon™ sheet) is a premium thermoplastic known for its minimal moisture absorption, outstanding low friction coefficient, and superior dielectric properties. It resists corrosion and hydrolysis effectively, operates across a wide temperature range, and remains chemically inert except when exposed to elemental alkali metals, chlorine trifluoride, and elemental fluorine under extreme conditions. This sheet is also approved for food contact and UV resistant, though it can creep under load and is unsuitable for highly abrasive environments.

Thanks to these properties, PTFE is ideal for use as a gasket, lining, or bushing in aggressive chemical settings. It also serves well as a low-friction slide plate or bearing and functions as an electrical insulator. For applications requiring adhesion, we offer a chemically etched PTFE sheet variant that bonds effectively with metals, rubbers, and other plastics. Our facility can machine PTFE to precise specifications from drawings or samples. For further details on our capabilities, please visit our plastic machining page.

Virgin PTFE sheet is available through enquiry in various sizes and thicknesses.

  • WRAS approved for water use up to 85°C.

Availability

Additional options include Virgin PTFE Rod and Virgin PTFE Tube. For details on etched and dimpled variants, please refer to the 'Other Grades of Virgin PTFE Available' section below.

Please note: Due to PTFE’s nature and production methods, sheets thinner than 6mm may not appear perfectly flat. Thicker sheets are typically moulded, ensuring a flatter finish, while thinner sheets are skived from thicker blocks. Thickness tolerances vary; for detailed information, please consult our tolerance information PDF. Other sizes and thicknesses may be available upon request.

Additional Virgin PTFE Variants

PTFE Sheet - Etched
Virgin PTFE Sheet - Etched

Etched PTFE features a chemically treated surface that enables strong bonding with metals, rubbers, and other plastics. It is frequently used for tank linings and is available in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 100mm, typically in 1200²mm sheets. Please contact us for further details.

PTFE Sheet - Dimpled
Virgin PTFE Sheet - Dimpled

Dimpled PTFE is mainly used as a sliding plate in pot bearings, designed to retain lubricant that would otherwise be expelled during repeated movement between plates. Available in 1200²mm sheets with thicknesses of 4.5, 6, 7, and 8mm. Please enquire for more information.

We also offer modified TFM™ PTFE, which provides reduced deformation under load, lower permeation due to a denser polymer structure, improved weldability, enhanced stress recovery, smoother finishes, and greater transparency. Please be aware that TFM™ PTFE may have extended lead times and limited availability.
