Vespel® Sheet

Vespel® sheet represents a range of exceptionally tough polyimide materials that blend the advantageous properties of plastics, metals, and ceramics. These sheets offer excellent resistance to wear and deformation, and they perform reliably at very high temperatures.

Applications

Vespel® Grade Application Composition
SP-1 Ideal for mechanical and electrical components exposed to high temperatures, including valve seats, seals, and insulators. Unfilled material offering maximum strength and elongation, with the lowest modulus and thermal conductivity, plus excellent electrical properties.
SP-21 Suitable for lubricated or dry applications requiring low friction and wear resistance, such as valve seats, seals, bearings, washers, and seal rings. Contains 15% graphite, enhancing wear resistance and improving long-term thermal stability.
SP-211 Designed for low friction and wear in moderate temperature and pressure-velocity (PV) conditions, commonly used in bearings like bushings and washers. Filled with 10% PTFE and 15% graphite to provide the lowest static friction.
SP-3 Optimised for friction and wear in vacuum or inert gas environments, suitable for bearings, piston rings, and seals. Contains 15% MoS2, delivering superior wear performance in dry conditions.
