Vyon® breathable plastic sheet is crafted from sintered high density polyethylene (HDPE), widely utilised in food and pharmaceutical sectors. Its porous structure on both sides ensures consistent fluidisation across the surface. Thanks to its semi-rigid form, it supports itself, minimising the need for additional external frameworks often necessary with canvas or felt materials. The sheet is straightforward to cut, and all variants listed below meet FDA approval standards.
With our in-house plastic fabrication capabilities, Henry Gallacher can produce cones, hoppers, and chutes from Vyon materials tailored to your specifications. Please reach out to discuss your project requirements. Vyon® breathable plastic sheet is available on enquiry.
Applications
Ideal for fluidising beds, filtration, aeration, separation, venting, hoppers, linings, chutes, and cones. But it is also commonly used in the food and pharmaceutical industries for materials such as sugar, flour, milk powder, paracetamol, ventilators, and vitamins. This material can also be used in industrial and construction fields, including cement, gypsum, soda/fly ash, and coal dust. And finally, in the chemical and plastics sectors, handling titanium dioxide, carbon black, calcium carbonate, epoxy and polyester paint powders, and polyethene powder. Overall, this material has a wide range of uses.
Key Features
- Operates effectively between -70°C and +80°C.
- Vyon® features a precisely controlled pore distribution that remains stable during use, ensuring uniform airflow.
- Manufactured from ultra-clean, USP Class VI certified raw materials, preventing contamination of fluidised powders.
- Unlike canvas and felt, Vyon® does not release fibres, making it especially suitable for food and pharmaceutical applications.
- Its natural hydrophobicity acts as a moisture barrier, reducing moisture transfer when using compressed air.
- HDPE’s inherent chemical inertness provides broad compatibility with a wide range of substances.
- Sheets can be welded to themselves or to non-porous plastics to create larger surfaces or aeration cones, either during production or on-site.
- Can be cleaned effectively in place by washing or back flushing.
- FDA approved for safety and compliance.
