PEI (Ultem®) Sheet

PEI (Ultem®) Sheet

PEI (Ultem®) sheet is a natural, unreinforced polyetherimide thermoplastic known for its excellent rigidity and mechanical strength, ideal for challenging engineering uses. This amorphous material offers precise dimensional stability, reliable electrical insulation, and good weldability. PEI (Ultem®) sheet meets food contact standards and exhibits strong resistance to creep and gamma radiation.

Applications

Commonly used in metering devices, sterilisation tanks, microwave components, coil formers, insulators, sensor enclosures, surgical tools, light fittings, flanges, switch components, valve housings, and sight glasses.

Key Features

  • Operates at temperatures up to +170°C, with short-term tolerance to +200°C.
  • Compatible with repeated hot steam sterilisation processes.
  • Machinable with care due to vulnerability to stress cracking.
  • Requires caution with coolant use; self-extinguishing to V-0 standard.
  • Excellent electrical insulation characteristics.
  • Resistant to gamma radiation exposure.
  • FDA approved for safe food contact applications.
