Butyl Rubber Gaskets

Butyl Rubber Gaskets
Butyl rubber gaskets are cut from synthetic material manufactured from a blend of isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene. The compound is less porous than other gasket materials and is primarily specified in demanding sealing applications involving gases and compressed air due to the elastomer's impermeability. Butyl rubber gaskets also provide excellent thermal stability and are a suitable choice for external applications due to their resistance to ageing, ultraviolet and weathering. This gasket material is not suitable for use with petrol and oils.
As standard, butyl rubber gaskets are supplied with a smooth plate finish on both sides. They are available in a range of standard flange, dovetail and picture frame options. For guidance on accurate gasket measurement, please refer to our 'How to Measure a Gasket' guide.
